Help! There's Film Wrapped colse to My Laminator's Rollers!

,

Roll laminators are very handy document finishing devices. They can help you protect a range of items along with certificates, posters, banners, photographs, and so on. These machines can also be easy to operate although you may encounter some difficulties at some point. One minor problem you might run into is having the film get wrapped nearby the laminator's rollers. This narrative will walk you straight through the steps of resolving this issue so you can get back to laminating.

Although it can be disconcerting to see your machine with film wrapped nearby its rollers, just try to relax. The problem looks much worse than it for real is. No matter what you do, don't panic and start attacking the film with sharp objects. Turn the machine off and move on the next step. Now that your machine is turned off you can begin to fix things. The first thing you need to do is cut away any material that hasn't been laminated yet. (When you do this, make sure the knife or scissors don't touch the rollers since they can be for real damaged. After all, they're made out of silicone.) Although cutting the material will ruin it, this will ensure that no more film will wrap nearby the rollers. At this point, you can begin to try to take off the film from the rollers. If you're lucky, this should be pretty easy and won't take you too long. The rollers are probably still a bit warm, so be right and don't burn yourself. Once the laminate has been removed from the device, you're going to need to get rid of any adhesive coating the rollers to preclude the problem from happening again. This is the most time-consuming part of the entire process, especially if any of the adhesive has already cooled and hardened. To take off the adhesive, use a kitchen scrubbing pad and a warm explication of soap and water. This may take you a bit of time, so try to remain outpatient as you do it. Sometimes it helps the have the rollers slowly sharp as you'll have best way the places when the adhesive has piled up. It also keeps the adhesive warm so you won't have to scrub overly hard. When you're done scrubbing, you can re-load the laminator with film and get on with your day. Also, be sure to pat yourself on the back for doing such a good job of solving the problem!

Dealing with a laminator with film wrapped nearby its rollers can be sharp and it can take up more time that you'd ideally like to spend on it. Nonetheless, it's leading to do this so you can keep your machine running and stay productive. The key things to remember are:

1.) be right when using cutting tools as they can damage the device;
2.) shut down the laminator before attacking the problem; and
3.) keep your cool as you scrub away the adhesive.

Doing so will help you be successful. Good luck with your projects!

T-Shirt Quilts - withhold Your Memories

,

If you're finding for a creative way to recycle some old clothes and keep a few of your high-priced memories at the same time, making a t-shirt quilt is an easy way to do both. This fun task allows you to make personalized quilts from all those old t-shirts you have accumulated over the years.

T-shirt Quilts: Shirts from concerts, schools, or athletic events can all be combined to generate a special trip down memory lane in the form of a unique quilt. Add t-shirts with cartoon characters, popular sayings or those with some special meaning and you'll literally end up with a time to come family heirloom.

Follow this straightforward guide for suggestions and tips on how to make your own special t-shirt quilt, what supplies you may need along with some helpful and useful hints.

First, conclude on the size of your quilt which is normally based on the estimate of t-shirts being used. Sort the shirts by size retention in mind that even numbers work best. For example, 20 t-shirts could be used to make a quilt with five rows by four rows. Try to find shirts with images that are relatively the same size, 12 inches is a common sized quadrate used.

Next, cut the side seams of the t-shirts from the bottom up to the armpit area, then over the sleeves and through the shoulder seams. It is very important to reinforce the back of your shirt with the interfacing Before cutting out the designs or squares. T-shirts are made of material that's too stretchy to be cut and sewn without the added keep of the interfacing. It's also wise to use your scrap fabrics as a press cloth to safe the t-shirt's designs from the hot iron.

Using your ruler, quadrate up the interfaced pieces making sure each one is the same size before cutting. It's helpful to leave a few inches colse to the edge of the originate if possible, and also to make a cardboard template to ensure even sizing. Now conclude on the positioning of your designs and add strips of complementary colors in the middle of blocks if desired.

Many times there are images with widely assorted color schemes used in t-shirt quilts and the sashing often helps to tie it all in together.

If you're making a one-sided quilt, then feel free to quilt away, but if your creation has images on both sides you'll want to use "invisible" thread so as not to distract from the design. Sew each of the squares together forming rows and then sew those rows together with added fabric borders if desired.

Now lay out the backing and the originate sides next to each other, wrong side up, add the fleece or batting and then pin together evenly. Trim if needed, and then stitch the edges leaving an opportunity large sufficient to turn the quilt right side out before sewing the rest closed.

Supplies you may need:

Clean t-shirts An Iron Light weight, iron-on interfacing Scraps of light-colored fabric Sashing Polyester batting Durable fabric for backing quadrate ruler Fabric scissors Sewing supplies

Helpful hints:

Plan your originate on paper first and duplicate check measurements before doing any cutting.

Use extra sharp scissors to prevent t-shirts and fabrics from fraying. Wash t-shirts in a mild detergent that is free of fabric softener to ensure that the interfacing will adhere properly.

Extra blocks can be creatively used to make personalized purses, pillows, curtains and throw rugs just to name a few.

Knowledge of Some Kitchenware Basics

,

With all of the tools you have in a kitchen you may feel overwhelmed to cook some great homemade food for you and your family. There are principal kitchenware that you need in your kitchen that can be anywhere from some fine cutlery knives or cookware sets or even some nice frying pans. When seeing for the potential cookware it can also become extraordinary to find. There are many tips out there to help you find the best type of kitchen tools you need. Here is a break down of what each one does.

Cutlery Knives

You need to have a great set of cutlery knives for any kitchen. A nice sharp set of knives to cut your vegetables, meat, or anything you may be cooking. With any cutlery set that you like to use whether it be stainless steel or any other type of metal you need to make sure that you have a cutting board so that way you do not ruin your counter tops. Having a cutting board that you like whether it be glass, plastic, or bamboo make sure to have a concentrate just in case. Also it is nice to have a block to store your knives in. Lastly, make sure that you have easy to grip handles with your knife set. The worst thing is to have a knife fly out of your hand onto the floor and jumping out of the way so the knife does not land on your feet.

Utensils

Next you need to make sure you have some utensils for your cooking. Utensils like a spatula, ladle, large spoon you need to make sure that you have a good vegetable knife, potato peeler, kitchen fork, tin opener, pair of kitchen scissors and spoons. All of the Utensils will help to make your cooking a wee easier and quicker. Also make sure that you have easy to grip handles so that way the utensils are not flying out of your hand causing you more of a ill and clean up time.

Frying Pans

Make sure that you have a concentrate of frying pans in your kitchen. You need frying pans to help ground your meat for any dish you are cooking or anything. There is also a lot of different types of frying pans out there such as: cast iron, nonstick, carbon steel, or even stainless steel. As a rule of thumb make sure that it is easy to clean, the worst thing is to sit at the kitchen sink scrubbing away trying to clean your kitchenware. Everyone has there single pan that they like, as for me I like the nonstick frying pans with a good potential though. With the nonstick frying pans you need to make sure that you supervene the directions so that the frying pans last a long time for you. With the pans, make sure that there are heat insulated handles so you don't burn your hands picking up the frying pans.

Book report project To Make You Hungry

,

Here is a very creative book narrative idea that is great for elementary age children but I think students in middle school or junior high would advantage from it as well.

I helped my daughter put in order a book narrative and she loves subway sandwiches so I recommended she make her book narrative like a sandwich. She could use some old cardboard boxes and some colorful building paper and my large furnish of craft and scrapbook scissors with all kinds of unique shapes to make a fun book report.

Here is what you will need.
2 pieces of brown cardboard Colored building paper A pencil or pen to write on the paper Paper punches and scissors with different designs A brad for securing all of it together when finished Markers

Have the child write the title of the book on one of the pieces of cardboard and this will be the sandwich top. Cut it out in a bread shape. Let them use bold colorful markers for this so you can see it well.

When you open the sandwich top let your child pick what is next on the sandwich such as the cheese and write the basic time line of the book on this paper. You will want to cut it in a quadrate like cheese.

Next you may have lettuce on the sandwich and you can put a brief narrative of the book here.

The next piece of the sandwich you can add the meat and write the setting of the book. You can cut this into anything shape you like.

Do you like tomato on your sandwich? Put the main characters on this. Cut out a piece of red paper and make it round like a tomato slice.

What interested you about the book the most? This would be the main topics of the book. Put this on the pieces of onion. You can put several pieces and put a topic or data sentence on each piece of onion. Use white paper for this and cut in rings like an onion ring.

What conflicts or problems were in the book. Put each of these on the green peppers. Again you can write on each pepper strip. Use green paper and make these ling thin strips of paper.

Put an additional one piece of cheese on now. Maybe make this swiss cheese with lots of holes and put your notion about the book. What did it make you think about?

On the last piece of cardboard delineate the ending but do not give away the whole book. This would be the bottom piece of bread.

Now put all the book together and put a small hole in the end through all the pieces of the sandwich and gather with a brad so that you can move each piece upward and out of the way as you gift the book narrative but the whole sandwich will not come apart.

Enjoy doing this with your kids or let them use their imagination themselves so see how creative they can be.

History of the Black Penny Stamp

,

The Black Penny stamp, also known as the Penny Black, was the first adhesive stamp to be used in the postal system. It was introduced to the postal system of the United Kingdom and Ireland on May 1, 1840 as part of the reforms suggested by Rowland Hill.   All London post offices received valid stamps to affix to the mail that went through them, but the institution of using the Penny Black did not immediately take hold throughout the country. Post offices in other parts of the country continued with their usual recipe of paying for mail, which often meant that the recipient was responsible for paying the postage.

The Penny Black was the brainchild of Sir Rowland Hill in an exertion to reform the postal system. His idea of affixing a prepaid stamp to each piece of mail was seen to have merit and so he was given a two year contract to run the new system in 1840. He ran a contest for a new stamp design, but none of the entries he received were deemed worthy of being the winner. His preliminary construct had been that of a rough engraving of Queen Victoria as a young girl. Hill believed that it would be very difficult for forgers to double this design. The stamp contained the word postage?and the denomination of the stamp, but there was no indication of the country name. At that time, this was the first time anyone used postage stamps and therefore it was unique to the United Kingdom.

The Penny Black was only in circulation for about a year. This was because the cancelled stamp of the postmaster was red and was very hard to see against the black background. This meant that many habitancy were reusing the stamps and basically sending mail for free. The effect was that the Treasury switched to the Penny Red and changed the colour of the cancellation mark to black.   The printing process of the Black Penny postage stamp required eleven plates.

There were 240 stamps printed on a sheet and since perforation had not yet been invented, the stamps had to be cut apart using scissors. Although it is a collector¯ item, the Penny Black stamp is not a rare stamp. There were approximately seventy million stamps printed in its short lifespan and many of these are still nearby today. It is easily available in collectors?circles with a used stamp in ordinarily poor health costing as diminutive as . A stamp in mint condition, however, is much more high-priced at about 00.

In addition to the stamp used for quarterly mail, there was an edition of the Black Penny printed for valid use only. Such a stamp contains the letters V and R instead of the stars in the top corners, which are on the quarterly stamps. All government officials and offices received large numbers of these stamps, of which only a few exist, this production this form of the stamp a rare one.

How to Get Started Scrapbooking

,

Do you have piles of photos stuffed into cabinets? Boxes of them? Old style "magnetic" photo albums bursting with photos, clippings and memorabilia? Have you ever looked at them and wished you could create them into stories and share with other habitancy your feelings about the events and habitancy in those photos?

Have you ever seen a modern day scrapbook? Wished you could express yourself creatively straight through telling stories about your ancestors, your children, your daily life? Thought it was so daunting that you didn't know where to start?

Have you ever walked straight through a scrapbook store or the scrapbook agency in a craft store and been fully overwhelmed, not knowing what you need, what's the "best", how to start?

Agonize no more! This record will provide you with the very basics you need to dip your toe into the world of scrapbooking. Obviously there is much more you can learn about scrapbooking such as page composition, color theory, an infinite whole of techniques and ornament tips; the list is endless. Of course, with so much to offer, getting started can seem very marvelous and here I will try to give you some facts and steps to begin with confidence.

Scrapbooking has been nearby forever and was a popular pastime in the Victorian era. Women saved dried flowers, scraps of fabric from popular dresses, letters, ticket stubs, all kinds of memorabilia and notes in books. The current scrapbooking craze was started by a woman who created any "memory books" in the 1970's to quote her ancestors. She brought these books to a consulation and habitancy were inspired to originate their own. In 1981 she opened the first known Scrapbooking store and the rest is history.

Now, scrapbooking is a multi-billion dollar industry, spawning magazines, books, stores, websites, blogs, consulation groups; anywhere you turn habitancy are scrapbooking!

Why Scrapbook?

So, why do habitancy scrapbook? There are as many reasons as there are scrapbooking styles, but the main reasons are that habitancy want to preserve their photos and memorabilia and thoughts and words for future generations and they enjoy having a creative outlet in creating books that depict everything from extra occasions to daily moments.

Watch For Acid
One of the most important things to know when embarking on your projects is to remember to ensure that everything you use in your books is archivally safe. This term means that all your products will do everything to improve the preservation of your books and not cause them any damage. One of the most important things to reconsider is to make sure that all your products are acid free. Acid will finally destroy your photos! Most, but not all, products that are made for scrapbooking are acid free. You can verify this by examining the container for the words "acid free" or to use an acid testing pen in an inconspicuous place to test the item for acid content; there are corrective deacidification sprays available.

One of the important publications on scrapbooking, Creating Keepsakes, endorses the products of many manufacturers and notes these products with a "Ck Ok" logo and fastener on the packaging. Any container you see with this fastener is safe for use in your books.

Non-acid free items Can be used, but you will want to make sure that you do one of the following: whether spray the object with a deacidification spray Or place the object on your page in a way that it is not touching your photos. Using buffered paper will help tremendously in this case, as it will preclude acid from migrating to the photos. Look for papers that specify that they are buffered if you are planning to use an item containing acid on your page.

You will also want to watch out for Pvc, polyvinyl chloride. Pvc was once a popular material used in photo albums, but it finally breaks down into acids and also finally destroys those photos!

Lignin
You will also want to ensure that any paper you use in your scrapbooks is lignin free. You know how when you leave a newspaper out in the driveway it turns yellow? This is because the lignin in the paper is breaking down and yellows and becomes brittle. Eventually, whatever containing lignin will do the same in your books. Most, but not all, papers sold for scrapbooking are lignin free. If you purchase papers specifically in scrapbooking market and departments you will be safe but using papers that are Not specified for scrapbooking should be reconsidered before using.

Protect Those gorgeous Pages!
Once you have completed your pages, you will want to protect them from minuscule sticky fingers, big sticky fingers and dust and daily grime. You will do this by using page protectors designed for the type of album you choose. I highly, highly encourage habitancy to use them all the time. They also protect your embellishments from catching on each other and pulling off the page and help to originate a "slide" between pages, preventing wear and pulling on the photos.

Pick A Theme, Any Theme
Another thing to reconsider before you jump in is what kind of album do you want? Will it be a book of your daily house life? A book commemorating a relative? One recognizing a extra event? An daily book will naturally need to be larger than, say, one you originate to welcome a new niece or nephew into the world. Keep your projects in mind as you shop for your album and materials.

Basic Tools
At the very minimum you will need a paper trimmer, a good pair of sharp scissors, some adhesive and a journaling pen. In addition, of course, you will also need papers or cardstock, pages, page protectors and any embellishments you want to add but here we will cover just the tools.

I advise that you purchase the best tools you can afford. Scrapbooking tools are one area where you no ifs ands or buts get what you pay for. For instance, inexpensive decorative scissors (scissors that originate a decorative edge) are tempting since they are priced so low, but, and I speak from sorry personal experience, they are far inferior in potential and persisting power than those from a brand like Fiskars.

There are many different forms of adhesive that are specifically designed for use in scrapbooks. I advise that you purchase a merge of different kinds and try them out to see which style you prefer. What you choose to use will depend on your relax level and the ease of use you have with them. It is worth repeating here that you should Never use rubber cement or white glue in your books! Both dry out, crack and your pages will fall apart!

A journaling pen is an primary because you will all the time want to note the basics - who, when, where - on every page. You may choose to note some of facts straight through your title and captions but I all the time advise that habitancy consist of a small bit of their own handwriting somewhere on each page. Wouldn't you love to know what your grandmother's handwriting looked like? Think of future generations discovering your world straight through your eyes in your hand.

On To The Good Stuff!
Ok, you say, enough with the warnings - I want to scrap! How do you start? It is easier than you think!

1. Choose your photos - pick the photos that depict the field you want to scrapbook. Edit them carefully; reject any that are fully out of focus, show habitancy who are not integral to the story, are blurry, etc. Carefully look over the ones you have remaining. Remember that you do not need to scrapbook every photo. You want to pick the ones that best account for the story you want to tell straight through your page.

2. Select your colors - take a good look at the photos you have chosen. Are the colors in them bright? Jewel toned? Is there one color that is predominant? Sample any colors with your photos and choose the one(s) that best complement your photos. Determine which color(s) you want as your background and which one(s) as accent colors.

3. Crop your photos - Ok, I can hear you now; "I can't Cut my photos!". Yes, you can! It might be hard to get over, but once you start you will do it without hesitation. Simply trim off from the photo whatever extraneous; people, background, someone's foot, a stain on a shirt........just lop it right off! Your photos will look better and thus your pages will, too!

4. Begin to create your page(s) - lay your photos out, with your background color(s) under them. Choose a photo to serve as your focal point, that is where you want habitancy to look first, to look to learn what your layout is about. Work the other photos nearby it in an arrangement that you find pleasing. There is no right or wrong with this! This is Your creation and you should have fun with it.

Now pick your embellishments. Here is where you can no ifs ands or buts show your creative side! You can choose from ribbons to stickers to die cuts to charms to premade titles and phrases to nothing extra at all. The most important thing to remember is this is supposed to be Fun and there are no real rules other than manufacture sure that your items are archivally safe.
